About Cerritos
Cerritos was incorporated in 1956 as Dairy Valley and took the name Cerritos in 1967, as the farms gave way to homes. It is now known for Cerritos Auto Square and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.
Cerritos contracts with the LA County Sheriff’s Department. Its own Sheriff’s station, the Community Safety Center, opened in 1997 and serves only Cerritos. Cases go to the Bellflower Courthouse.
