About Lerdo Pre-Trial
Lerdo Pre-Trial is the largest jail the Sheriff’s Office runs, with room for 1,232 people. It houses men and women at higher security levels while their cases go through court, and it also holds some state and federal contract inmates.
Nobody is booked here: arrests are processed at the Inmate Reception Center next door and assigned to Pre-Trial afterwards. People who finish a sentence are released between 8 a.m. and midnight; people released at court leave before midnight on their release date.
Since June 1, 2025, personal mail for people held here is scanned and delivered digitally, and the jail does not take phone messages for inmates. Visits are by video.
