About the New Cuyama station

The New Cuyama station at 70 Newsome Street is staffed by two resident deputies who are supervised by the Santa Maria station. It covers the remote Cuyama Valley in the north-east corner of the county.

The station has a holding cell, but the Sheriff’s Office says it is not used because it has not received final state approval. Deputies hold an arrested person in the patrol car or drive them straight to the Northern Branch Jail, about 46 miles away in a straight line and a long drive by road.
