About the Lamont substation

The Lamont Substation at 12022 Main Street shares a complex with the Lamont courthouse. Its deputies also guard that courthouse and its court holding unit, and the substation runs a temporary holding facility in the same complex.

It patrols the township of Lamont and about 840 square miles of farm country in the south valley. Arvin, next door, became a city in 1960 and has its own police; Lamont stayed unincorporated, so its arrests are Sheriff’s cases.

People kept in custody are booked at the Lerdo Justice Facility, about 21 miles to the north.
