About the East Valley Jail
The East Valley Jail, still called the East County Jail on the Sheriff’s site, is inside the Thousand Oaks police station on East Olsen Road. It is open 24 hours a day and books arrests from the east side of the county.
Its staff accept bail bonds and deposits for anyone in Sheriff’s custody, even if the person is held at another county jail. People booked here usually stay 6 to 12 hours, according to the Grand Jury, before release or a move to the Main Jail in Ventura, about 22 miles away.
The building was cut back to a short-stay booking jail in 2004 and reopened in 2008 for inmate workers; it books men.
