Posting bail for a Los Altos Hills arrest
Los Altos Hills has never had its own police force. Sheriff’s deputies from the West Valley Division in Cupertino patrol the town, and at the end of August 2026 the town council signed a five-year extension of that contract despite objecting to the cost increase.
Arrests are booked at the Main Jail in San Jose, about 13 miles away. The case goes to the Palo Alto Courthouse, about 3 miles from the center of town.
The town is known for its equestrian trails and open-space barns such as Westwind Community Barn. Patrol comes from the Sheriff’s West Valley Division office on South De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino, about 8 miles away.
