Either way, the arrest is booked at the Main Jail in San Jose, about 12 miles from Los Altos, and the case is filed at the Palo Alto Courthouse, about 4 miles away.
The police department shares the civic center on San Antonio Road with City Hall, a short walk from the Los Altos History Museum. Its station holding area is one of the smallest in the county, with room for four adults.
