Posting bail for a Mountain View arrest
The Mountain View Police Department, at 1000 Villa Street, is one of the few departments that spells out on its own website what happens after an arrest: adults are booked into the county’s Main Jail and either released on bail or held for court.
From the center of Mountain View the Main Jail is about 10 miles away in San Jose. The Palo Alto Courthouse, where Mountain View cases are filed, is much closer, about 4 miles away.
For a teenager, the path is different: Mountain View police say a juvenile may be released to a parent, or, if booked on a criminal charge, taken to Juvenile Hall instead of the Main Jail.
