About the Mountain View Police Department

The Mountain View Police Department is at 1000 Villa Street, at the edge of downtown. Its own arrests page states the rule plainly: adults are booked into the county’s Main Jail, where they are released if they post bail or held for court. Juveniles booked on a criminal charge may go to Juvenile Hall.

The station has a small temporary holding area, room for four adults according to a 2018 Civil Grand Jury report. The Main Jail in San Jose is about 10 miles away, and Mountain View cases are heard at the Palo Alto Courthouse, about 4 miles from the station.
