About the West Valley Division

The Sheriff’s West Valley Division works out of Suite 148 at 1601 S. De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino. It is the police department, in practice, for three cities that never formed their own: Cupertino, Saratoga and Los Altos Hills. It also covers Moffett and the unincorporated foothills on the west side of the valley.

All three cities renewed their contracts with the Sheriff’s Office in 2026 despite steep cost increases. Cupertino approved a five-year contract in September, Los Altos Hills signed a five-year extension at the end of August, and Saratoga voted in October to stay rather than switch to the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department.

Deputies take arrests about 8 miles to the Main Jail in San Jose. Where the case is heard depends on the city: Cupertino and Los Altos Hills cases go to the Palo Alto Courthouse, while Saratoga cases go to the Hall of Justice in San Jose.
