Santa Clara County bail schedule

Posting bail for a Santa Clara arrest

The city of Santa Clara shares its name with the county, which causes some confusion on the phone: the Santa Clara Police Department, at 601 El Camino Real, polices the city, while the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office runs the jails.

City arrests are booked at the county’s Main Jail in San Jose, about 3 miles from the center of Santa Clara, including arrests at Levi’s Stadium, where the police keep a separate holding area for event days. The case goes to the Hall of Justice in San Jose; the court lists its old Santa Clara courthouse as temporarily closed.

Santa Clara is a city of about 128,000 people, by its own 2023 estimate. Besides the main police building on El Camino Real, the department runs a Northside Substation on Rivermark Parkway for the city’s north side.
