San Jose is the county seat and the largest city in Santa Clara County. The Main Jail and the Hall of Justice are both on Hedding Street at the north edge of downtown, so a San Jose arrest is booked, bailed and heard in court within one block.

We call the Main Jail in San Jose for you, confirm the bail amount and post the bond. Our Santa Clara County office answers 24 hours a day.

Santa Clara County bail schedule

Posting bail in San Jose

San Jose is where everything in Santa Clara County’s criminal system meets. The Main Jail at 150 W. Hedding Street books every adult arrest in the county, and the Hall of Justice next door hears San Jose’s felony and misdemeanor cases.

San Jose police headquarters on West Mission Street is a short walk from the jail, and most SJPD arrests go straight there for booking. Unincorporated pockets inside and around the city, such as the East Foothills, are Sheriff’s territory instead, but those arrests are booked at the same Main Jail.

If the person arrested is under 18, the case does not go to the Hall of Justice at all. Juvenile cases are heard at the Juvenile Justice Courthouse on Guadalupe Parkway, and California’s juvenile system does not use bail bonds; call us and we explain what happens instead.
