About Goleta

Goleta became a city in 2002 and buys its police services from the Sheriff’s Office, which runs them as the Goleta Police Department. The patrol bureau works out of Sheriff’s Headquarters on Calle Real and a storefront at the Camino Real Marketplace.

The county’s South County jail is on that same stretch of Calle Real, about 3 miles from the center of Goleta, so a Goleta arrest is booked close to home.

Isla Vista, between Goleta and the university, has its own Sheriff’s station, the Isla Vista Foot Patrol.
