Malibu became a city in 1991, one of the newest in the county. It stretches about 21 miles along the Pacific Coast Highway at the edge of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Malibu does not have its own police force. It contracts with the Sheriff’s Department and is served from the Malibu/Lost Hills Station in Agoura, which also covers Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Hidden Hills and Westlake Village.
