About Pitchess South
Pitchess South is a medium-security jail on the Pitchess grounds in Castaic. For several years in the 2000s it operated under the name North Annex.
The site began in 1938 as the Wayside Honor Rancho, a minimum-security farm where inmates worked the land. It took the Pitchess name in 1983, after former Sheriff Peter J. Pitchess.
