About Las Colinas
Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility opened in August 2014 in Santee, replacing a 1960s jail on the same county land. It is a campus of 25 buildings on 45 acres, with 1,216 beds.
It is the county’s main booking jail for women. The Grand Jury describes 11 classrooms, certificate programs run with Grossmont Adult School, and an animal-assisted therapy program.
Men arrested with them are booked at San Diego Central Jail downtown, about 14 miles away.
