Posting bail for a Los Gatos arrest
The town of Los Gatos runs a police department that also serves Monte Sereno next door, from its station at 110 E. Main Street. Los Gatos covers about 12 square miles at the south-west edge of the valley, where Highway 17 heads over the mountains to Santa Cruz.
Arrests are booked at the Main Jail in San Jose, about 9 miles away. An arrest on the Santa Cruz County side of the summit is a different county’s case; inside Los Gatos, the case is filed at the Hall of Justice in San Jose.
Forbes Mill, a California Historical Landmark on Church Street, is a short walk from the police station. The town and Monte Sereno share one department, so a call from either town reaches the same dispatch.
