About Benoit
The John J. Benoit Detention Center was built on Highway 111 in Indio beside the old Indio Jail, planned with 1,626 beds. In 2017 the Board of Supervisors named it for John J. Benoit, a county supervisor, former state senator and former CHP station commander.
It serves the Coachella Valley. Visitor parking is in the Larson Justice Center lot across the street, the courthouse for Coachella Valley criminal cases.
