What happens after an arrest in Huntington Beach

1

Booking

People arrested by Huntington Beach police are booked at the city jail on Main Street. Anyone not released on bail is usually taken to court within 48 hours.

2

You call us

Give us the person’s full name and date of birth. We call the jail for you, confirm the booking and the bail amount, and explain the cost.

3

The co-signer signs

A friend or family member co-signs the bail paperwork. We explain the agreement and every fee before anything is signed.

4

We post the bond

We post the bail bond at the Huntington Beach City Jail, and the person is released once the jail finishes its paperwork.

After some DUI arrests, the person is cited and released to a detox facility or taken to the county jail. If they are moved, we post bail at the Intake Release Center instead.

Bail or a bail bond?

Paying the full bail yourself

You can deposit the full bail amount at the jail: cash, cashier’s check, money order, or a personal check up to $7,500. The money is returned after the court appearances, under the receiving court’s rules.

Using a bail bond

You pay us a premium, a percentage of the bail, and we post a bond for the full amount. Most families choose a bond because it costs far less up front. See what a bail bond costs.
